Memrise is a different way of learning languages. Instead of focusing on theory and long boring classes, their method is language based mini-games that make it much more fun. Without realizing it you learn a lot, and at your own pace.

Memrise is one of many language learning applications on the apps stores. Its goal is to teach using a method that its creators say it is unique: small tests and games that place words in memorable contexts.

The app is structured in a way that lets you switch between different languages ??and courses at will. Tests are both written and spoken, with audio sections recorded by native speakers to help in learning pronunciation.

If you pass the tests you access new levels of difficulty. Stuck somewhere? Then go into another language or repeat an earlier test. You have more than 100 languages ??to choose from across dozens of courses.

Memrise limitation is in it vocabulary focus. If you want to become fluent in a language: you must look elsewhere for grammar and other skills.

The playful nature of Memrise makes learning fast. The creators say they can learn up to 44 words per hour. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I certainly picked up more word with less effort than in other language apps.

Memrise is intended for you to use everywhere: it saves progress between devices and can be used offline, just be sure to download the courses want.

The quality of the app is good, both for its intuitive menus and fast loading audio.

A good app to start new languages

Memrise is a great app to learn words in an entertaining way. Of course, when you already have some base you may find it limited and need other ways to expand your knowledge.
